M1Strong Approach

Our core stems from the principles of osteopathy & the neurobiology of Human Movement, specifically your primary motor cortex. Your primary motor cortex in the brain is referred to as your M1 region, one of the principal areas involved in motor functions. This is the foundation of M1Strong.

Our Philosophy

The body is a very complex machine. When we think of what it means to be in shape, fit, or to compete at the highest level of sport, we understand that there is not one single approach to training. It is extremely important for us to understand the needs of the individuals we work with in order to apply the best muscle skeletal patterns and implement body-wide protocols to alleviate compensatory patterns of strength, mobility and neuromuscular control.

Through our training approach we are recognizing the anatomical links within the body to create a well balanced and progressive training strategy. When there is a balance of strength, mobility and movement control, the body starts to work together to create the proper movement patterns that lead to long-term health, increased sports performance, injury prevention and a safer and more effective way of reaching your fitness goals.

PRINCIPLES:

1) The Body is a Unit. The body is considered a whole. Each part affects each and every other part.

2) Structure Governs Function. If the structure of the body is compromised then it is very likely to have an adverse affect on function.

3) The body is it’s own “Medicine Chest”. Every person has their own built in healing mechanisms which can be stimulated & supported by removing restrictive barriers.

4) The rule of Artery is Supreme. For healing to occur there needs to be good enough blood supply to provide the troubled area with the necessary immune cells & nutrients.

Nicole Cesa, Operations

Nicole grew up in Pennsylvania and has a background in both fitness and business. From playing sports since she was young and competing in an NPC Bikini Body Building competition, where she took 1st place, fitness has been a huge passion of hers throughout her life.

Nicole’s training style had been aesthetic focused including a very strict eating regimen. This worked well for her competition training; however, the months that followed were not so great as she ended up with a shoulder impingement from overtraining. This encouraged her to look at fitness in a different way and realized that fitness is so much more than looking great; it’s about being healthy and strong for the long-term.

Certifications: Nicole currently holds Personal Training and Group Fitness Instructor certifications from NASM. She also has her Bachelor’s degree in Business from West Virginia University and uses this to run the daily operations of our business here at M1 Strong.
